Date night with your dog

It’s the month of love, and there’s no one we love more than our dogs, right?

So, at Pointer, we thought up a concept. Taking your dog on a date. They’re our most constant companions after all, and we love spending time in their company. Why not take all of that love and turn it into a fun day or evening, for both you and your furry friend to enjoy together?

We asked our team of dog owners and lovers at Pointer, and here’s some of their ideas on how to have a date night with your dog. Trust us and try it!

6 Ideas On How To Have A Date Night With Your Dog

A Bonding Walk / Hike

Most dogs adore being in the great outdoors. And for you, a walk or a is proven to release natural chemicals that make you feel happy and positive like serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins. Why not combine the two and create a charming date day for you both? A long ramble followed by lunch in a dog-friendly pub or café, sounds like the perfect place to celebrate the love you have for one another to us.

Picnics In The Park

As the weather gets warmer, the opportunities to spend more time outside increase. With most of our furry friends loving being outside, another way to spend time with them without the walking could be a picnic in the park. Gather up some snacks for yourself and of course, treats for your pups, a water bowl, a picnic blanket, perhaps some toys and enjoy each other’s company in the sunshine.

Embracing Dog-Friendly Dining Out

With almost half of us now owning dogs in our households, and as the love for our four legged companions continues to grow, more and more places are becoming dog friendly. Music to our ears! If you enjoy the company of your pup so much, and you’d like to take them on a date day or evening, why not scope out a dog-friendly restaurant or café near you and enjoy the experience together?

Heading To A Dog Park

If you have a reactive pup, or want to let them run loose of the leash for a little while, then why not hire a private dog park for you to play together? Many will already have agility courses and activities set up already, but make sure to take some of your own treats and toys to keep them enriched and entertained too.

Puppy Playdates

Many dogs thrive in company. We’re certain they’re super happy if it’s just you and them, but also, it’s worth remembering that they do love playing with other pups like themselves too. So why not a doggy playdate? Get together your friends and families with pets, and head to a dog-friendly area together. Bring plenty of treats and toys and watch them thrive in each other’s company. They’ll never have a better nights sleep after in their life, we promise!
