Our furry friends have a unique ability to bring joy to those around them, so why not
channel that into spreading kindness this Random Acts of Kindness Day- this 17th February
Small, selfless gestures that can brighten someone’s day – and when you involve your dog,
they become even more memorable. Here are some fun and meaningful ways to give back
with your pup.
Hand Out Flowers or Treats on Your Walk
Turn your regular dog walk into an opportunity to spread joy. Bring a small bouquet of
flowers or a bag of Pointer dog treats to share with fellow dog owners your meet along the
way.
Hand a flower to someone who looks like they could use a smile or offer a treat for their dog
(always ask first!). It’s a simple way to create a positive moment in someone’s day while
giving your dog extra socialisation.
Volunteer Together
Many organisations welcome dog volunteers to help comfort and connect with people in
need. You and your dog could visit a local nursing home, hospital, or school as a part of a pet
therapy programme. These visits provide comfort and companionship, especially for those
who may feel isolated or stressed.
If your dog has a calm temperament and loves attention, this could be the perfect way to
make a difference together.

Organise a Doggie Meetup
Bring your community together by hosting a doggie playdate in your local park. Provide
water bowls, some toys, and maybe even a few treats. Not only does this create a space for
dogs to play and socialise, but it also encourages friendship among fellow dog lovers.
Pick Up Litter While Walking
On your next dog walk, why not carry a small bag and gloves or litter pick and gather any
litter you see along the way.
This act of kindness benefits the environment, your community, and your dog, who gets to
enjoy cleaner paths and parks. It’s a win-win!
Create a Care Package for a Dog in Need
Support a local rescue home by putting together a care package of toys, blankets, and
Pointer treats. You can even include a handwritten note to show your support for the staff
and volunteers who work tirelessly for animals in need.
Random acts of kindness don’t have to be big or extravagant to make a difference. By
involving your dog, you add an extra layer of love and joy to every gesture.
Try one (or more!) of these acts of ‘paws-itivity’ and see how much happiness you and your
dog can spread together.
